Our story

Born through friendship and a shared love for food and wines. O’Fogo is what one would call an “idea that will never happen anyway”. Until it did. 

On a wine night with friends we kept referring to certain wines that are nice, but For One Glass Only. This abbreviation became the name O’Fogo, which means fire in Portugese and to be honest – why not refer to the heat of our ambition and the warmth of our friendship? So no English, Italian, Indian or Dutch names for us, even though these nationalities are the heart of our creativity and cultural background.

In our team we have three different hospitality specialties, but with a specific love for the craft in general. A chef who is crazy about wines, a sommelier who loves service and a restaurant manager who acts as a hobby cook during the weekends. It makes us the blend of a little bit of everything.

Chef and creative brain behind the menu – Rukh Gupta

There is experience in fine dining, in a Michelin star restaurant, on an open fire, and even assisting the front of house. But Rukh never did a pop up before. A place where his own menu really is his own menu. But mostly a place where working with your friends and finishing the service with a glass of wine is the rule, not the exception. 

Sommelier and walking wine encyclopaedia – Luca Bocca

Even right before the last service of the week, when the rest of the team is patiently waiting for the weekend, Luca can be found with a wine book on his lap. Someone that breaths wine but also loves cooking and to make the guests feel at home.

Restaurant manager and a little bit of everything – Baue Albers

A little bit of social media, a little bit of food photography, a little bit of assistance where the gentlemen need it.. Being a restaurant manager without a restaurant means that Baue takes whatever comes her way, preferably a task that benefits from a little bit of organisation and attention to detail.
